Course Description:

This course discusses the practical as well as the technical and regulatory aspects of waste sampling, with emphasis on hazardous, PCB, and radioactive and mixed waste sampling.  Topics covered include:

 

 

 

Mandates/Drivers:

RCRA, PCB, and CERCLA regulations and DOE orders require proper waste characterization; defensible waste sampling is an integral part of the waste characterization process.

 

Terminal Objective:

Sampling personnel will become familiar with the regulatory, technical, and practical aspects of waste sampling and will understand the waste sampling process, including sampling process initiation, sampling preparation activities, sampling activities, sampling documentation, and sample transfer to the analytical laboratory under chain of custody.
