POSITION TITLE: Operations Specialist

DUTIES:

Provide Operations Specialist staff augmentation support to SRNS.

Primary duties include the following:

• Provide planning, direction, monitoring and execution of multiple operational and administrative activities within SWMF

• Provide supervisory relief for the First Line Manager (FLM)

• Develop new procedures/programs to improve operations and efficiency in accordance with Site and DOE orders.

• Work from standard and special procedures, training, shift logs, verbal turnover, and minimal supervisory direction.

• Will be required to use/operate hand and power tools.

• May be required to operate large equipment such as; lift trucks, gantry cranes, etc.

• Ancillary duties include coordinating material and waste transfers, performing periodic inspections, detecting and reporting faulty equipment and unusual conditions to supervisor.

• Will be expected to respond to all alarms and emergencies and take appropriate action.

• Will be trained to monitor and interpret field conditions against the facility safety basis.

• Must be capable of communicating issues to management, supervision, and other support personnel in order to ensure safe, effective conduct of operations.

• Will participate in event investigations, be aware of changes in facility conditions (radiological, environmental, or potentially hazardous) and make appropriate notifications.

• Perform administrative functions such as completing process procedures, taking and documenting equipment readings, completing sample requests, using office equipment, and other administrative duties as required. 

Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Work is performed from approved standard or special procedures, manuals, training, verbal turnover, and management direction. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Degree is required

Work Hours:

Successful applicants may be required to wear respiratory protection equipment (air purifying respirators) and/or protective clothing up to, and including, supplied air suits while working in confined radiological contamination areas.  Experience in a nuclear operation is preferred. Experience in an operations field required. 

A 40 hour work week is scheduled. All positions are subject to working night and/or weekend shift schedules. SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/l0s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B). Work week excludes SRNS holidays. Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.

Area Security Access:

A security clearance is not initially required; however, candidate must be capable of obtaining an L or Q clearance if required to perform assigned duties.
