POSITION TITLE:  Nuclear Accountability Specialist

DUTIES:

Provide nuclear material accounting services and support to include comprehensive analysis and reporting of nuclear inventory data; identification of inventory issues and recommendations for their resolution; monitoring, reconciling and enhancing financial systems, plans and accounts; and developing and interpreting nuclear inventory data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

U.S. Citizen

Education:

BS or BA Degrees acceptable in technical or business field.  (Concentration in accounting preferred.   Plus, 4-6 years of accounting, nuclear inventory or nuclear facility operations experience required. 

Or, an advanced degree (MBA or MS) with 2 or more years experience in nuclear accounting or a related discipline/related field.

Twelve years of Material Control and Accountability or equivalent experience (i.e., Operations or Engineering, Vulnerability and Assessment)  may be substituted for bachelors degree requirement. 

Experience/Skills:

Comprehensive knowledge of accounting, chemistry and physics as it applies to tracking nuclear material.  General knowledge of nuclear material measurement techniques.  Computer proficiency is needed to perform spreadsheets and analysis on complex issues.  Understanding of SRS or related nuclear material accounting systems and DOE reporting requirements. Radiation worker experience desired.

Work Hours:

A 40-hour work week is scheduled.  SRNS utilizes various work schedules;

including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days

per week), a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on Week B), or

shift schedules.  Work week excludes SRNS holidays.  Each work day has a 30-

minute lunch. 

Area Security Access:

DOE ”L” clearance required. (DOE “Q” clearance preferred)
