POSITION TITLE: NETWORK ENGINEER

DUTIES:       

Provide support for the SRS LAN Local Area Network and external connections. A Network engineer will work on multiple tasks simultaneously and must be able to respond quickly to diagnose and resolve networking issues.  Primary duties include network design, installation, monitoring, and repair.  Maintain and administer all plans and procedures related network environment. Another primary task is to monitor, respond to and resolve any security vulnerabilities, through scanning, intrusion detection, and reaction to computer virus or worm attacks.

Network engineering services will be provided using SRNS processes and procedures.  Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:BS degree in applicable science, engineering or related disciplines.

Experience/ Skills:     

Candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in installing, operating, and maintaining local and wide area networks.  Familiarity with Cisco and HP based equipment preferred and proven communications and customer service skills.

Work Hours:

SRS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B).  Work week excludes SRNS holidays.  Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.  

Area Security Access

                        A DOE L level security clearance is required.
