POSITION TITLE:  ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

 

 

DUTIES:

Perform inspection and evaluation of systems and structures within existing facilities at the Savannah River Site. 

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

Pre-inspection planning, including reviewing existing drawings, equipment files, maintenance records, etc, and developing data collection plans. 

 

Facility and system walkdowns and discussions with facility operating and maintenance personnel, identifying components, systems and structures, and inspecting and evaluating. 

 

Documenting the facility inspection, justifying evalutions and results of inspection, including identifying severity of deficiencies and estimating urgency of repairs and upcoming maintenance.  Entry of results into databases.

 

SRNS will provide processes and procedures.  Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering.

 

Experience/Skills:

Candidate must demonstrate five (5) years engineering experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.  Candidate must have working knowledge of NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE and OSHA code requirements.  Experience with MicroSoft Office Word and Excel is required, as well as general computer proficiency. 

 

Candidate must have the ability to walkdown systems in the field.

 

Work Hours:

A 40 hour work week is scheduled.  SRNS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B).  Work week excludes SRNS holidays.  Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.  

 

Area Security Access:

A security clearance is not initially required; however, candidate must be capable of obtaining an L or Q clearance if required to perform assigned duties.
