POSITION TITLE: Database Development/Management Specialist

DUTIES:

Provide engineering support for Solid Waste Management Facilities in the area of software and database development, implementation and management.

Development and implementation of databases for all TSD activities at SRS.  Typical job duties will include:

bullet Troubleshooting of software installation problems, label printing hardware and software.
bullet Processing of Computer Modification Traveler requests for Software/Database changes.
bullet Assembling of routine reports, querying of SWM databases for ad hoc data requests, and reporting requirements to various agency and management. 
bulletProviding leadership in development and updating of existing reports applications.  These extensive applications will require either a major overhaul or complete replacement to support the combination of the waste tracking systems.  This includes reporting tools available to our system users and dedicated applications used to retrieve information for monthly reports to DOE, quarterly reports to regulatory agencies, and more.
bulletProviding technical writing, editing and reviews of software documentation. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/

Certifications:

B.S. Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or eight years work experience in Computer Programming and Database Development and Management.

 

Experience/

Skills:

Candidate without a BS Degree in Computer Science/Engineering must demonstrate eight years technical experience in computer programming and database development and management.  This work experience is preferred for candidates with a BS Degree.  Experience in technical writing and editing of complex technical information for both a technical audience and the public is preferred.  Experience with Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and Lotus Notes is also preferred.  Microsoft Certification is desirable for the candidate.

 

Work Hours:

A 40-48 hour work week is scheduled.  SRS utilizes various work schedules; including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and a 9/80s (9 hours/day, five days on week A and 4 days on week B).  Shift work is probable. Work week normally excludes SRNS holidays.  Each work day has a 30-minute lunch.
