Position Title:  Associate Media Specialist

 

Duties:

Responsible for assisting Program Planners with various activities associated with technical writing, media support, and photography when requested.  Requires

utilization of pertinent Microsoft office software programs, including In-Design and Photoshop.  Other duties include the following:

·         Assist Project Planner with technical writing expertise – research highly scientific and/or technical information and interpret that information into layman terms to promote understanding across readership without little or no supervision

·         Assist Project Planner with SRS Public Affairs and/or Media group and the Weapons Complex Monitor by providing news worthy technical information pertinent to the ACP and SWM project scope.  This requires editorial, graphic, photography and design support for site and local publications of AC&SWM Project Scope.

·         Support Project Planner and Project Management with necessary project photography opportunities.

·         Record photography in Archives.

·         Use Photoshop and In Design to assist Project Planner with internal and external communications.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education:    

BS Degree in Communications or Business related field.

 

Experience/Skills

            Candidate must demonstrate written and oral communication skills to

provide effective and accurate assessment of pertinent project information. 

Candidate must also have the ability to interpret technical information for

site and local newspaper publications. 2 – 3 years working in editorial and

graphical experience is preferred and demonstrated technical writing capability

is highly desirable.

 

Work Hours

            A 40 hour work week is scheduled Monday-Thursday 10 hours/day.

            Work week excludes SRNS holidays.  Each work day has a 30-minute unpaid lunch.    

 

Area Security Access:

            A security clearance is not initially required; however, candidate must be capable

of obtaining an L or Q Clearance if required to perform assigned duties.
